Since the release of their last studio album in 2007 titled, ‘Humanity: Hour I’ which was their 16th studio album, the Scorpions have been touring around the world, twice to be exact. With the tour wrapped up, it looks like they will begin writing and recording their 17th studio album to be released sometime in the spring of 2010.
On a recent post on Scorpsnews.com October 16th, 2009, Matthias Jabs commented about the new upcoming Scorpions record.
“We are working on 12 songs at the moment. Great stuff, definitely ’scorpionized’ in sound and attitude. More towards the early 80’s. The new CD will be Released in March 2010.”
As for a US release date, Matthias said,
‘I don`t know about the US release yet. Azoff- management is currently working on the deal. Simultaneous release is up to the record companies. The weak dollar has been a reason to delay the US release in order to avoid bad imports in the “rest” of the world, for all non-american bands in recent years.”
At the moment there is no working title for the record or any song titles announced.
Matthias also so mentioned his new website.

These are some recent comments made by the members of the legendary rock band, on their official website September 3rd, 2009.
Kluas Meine wrote, “The last few months on the road just flew by, and as always, it was fantastic and exciting to play for you. But now we are back in our studio in Hannover with our Swedish producers Mikael Nord and Martin Hansen, to work on our new album. We have a lot of new songs and are very much looking forward to the creative time ahead of us. Hopefully, when this time comes to an end, we will be able to present another awesome album that rocks and finds a place in your heart. If everything goes as planned, our new album will be released to the public Spring of 2010.”

Here’s what Rudolf Schenker had to say, “It is such a great feeling to be back in the studio and creating something new and genuine. As early as the first recording day with my band mates I realized, pure creativity is in the air. I am sure that our new album will surprise all our fans. We are up to something big, so let your curiosity get the best of you!”
And Matthias Jabs said, “Now that our ‘Humanity World Tour’ is over and we toured the world twice very successfully, it is time to record new songs, to write new songs –songs that come from the heart and relate to our fan’s emotions around the world. I am very excited about recording our new album with lots of energy and feeling. As always though, the bar is set very high, especially as I like to measure it with our albums ‘Blackout’ and ‘Love at First Sting.’”
I would love to hear a new Scorpions album that sounds like, ‘Blackout’ or ‘Love at first Sting,’ lets hope they can pull it off.
