RUSH 2010 Time Machine Tour
I have seen one of my favorite bands, RUSH almost from the beginning. My first concert in 1975 was RUSH warming up KISS at the San Diego Sports Arena. This concert tour was in support of the first RUSH album (Fly By Night) with new drummer Neil Peart, I have seen almost every tour since.
RUSH is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of ‘Moving Pictures‘ by playing it in it’s entirety on their 2010 Time Machine Tour along with two new songs to be released soon, ‘Caravan‘ and ‘BU2B‘ and it made me think, what else would I like to see them play. I will be seeing them again tomorrow night in Saratoga. Saw their Moving Pictures tour back in 81, and can’t wait to see them play The Camera Eye again.

My first Rush concert was the Hemispheres tour – I want to say fall of ‘78. They blew my mind. I bought all of their albums and saw them twice more 79-81. For one reason or another I haven’t seen them since. They are my favorite band. I love irregular time sigs. Older songs really touched the dreamer in me. My playlist would be old school and go something like this:

Your setlist is good, but I have some questions
1.Why is roll the bones dropped in canada, we don’t have time limit or a problem with it up here
2.Why must the show end with Tom Sawyer? If it is not your favorite song why should it end the show when there are so many other good songs to close a show. Notice in my set I ended with the spirit of radio
3. Is the encore intended ro play each song in full (minus the first mix song) because it may go a little past the fifteen minute mark
All of those lists are incredible and would love to see Neil do the YYZ drum solo from “Exit..Stage left” in IT’S entirety just the way he did it back then (Red bow tie and all) to add to the time machine effect. Was trying to imitate that solo at age 12 and am 39 now going to see Rush for the 12th time, WOW. (actually 4 days short of my 39th B-day) wow, what a present. Thank you Geddy, alex and Neil!!

The setlist is okay. I have no idea what The Necromancer and Best I Can are doing ther and how can they open with Xanadu? And there is no way that Geddy Lee can sing Anthem and it’s to fast for them. It wold be nice to hear Something For Nothing but I don’t think he can hit the notes. I also like your idea CB, one song from each album.

Pretty decent setlist. I like the minimal use of Snakes/80’s synth era songs. You could par down some tracks to make it fit for 3 hours. Honestly don’t wanna see any medleys this time around. Its just “cheating” that makes it annoying.
