Metal legends IRON MAIDEN have revealed the title of their new album, THE FINAL FRONTIER and details of their highly anticipated 2010 North American tour, announced Live Nation today. With 22 dates confirmed, the Live Nation promoted tour will open in Dallas, Texas, on June 9 and finish in Washington D.C. on July 20, making it their most extensive North American tour in many years. (Full confirmed dates below.)
The new album is expected to be released in late summer and following the North American tour, the The Final Frontier World Tour will continue to Europe for a few select major festival and stadium shows.

Number of the Beast
From their self-titled debut via their worldwide breakthrough album “The Number of the Beast” to the most recent masterpiece, “A Matter of Life and Death,” for over the last 30 years at the forefront of Metal, Iron Maiden have influenced everyone from massive acts such as Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer to aspiring metal stars Mastodon, Bullet for My Valentine and Trivium, while selling over 80 million albums and packing out arenas and stadiums Worldwide. Renowned for their spectacular stage sets and uncompromising musicianship, during their 08-09 “Somewhere Back in Time World Tour” alone they headlined in an astonishing 38 countries to two million fans. As vital and exciting as ever, Maiden never fail to put on the best possible show for their fans and give even the biggest stadium the atmosphere of a club show with their intense communication with an audience.
Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson,
“We really wanted to get out and play some shows before the release of the new album later this year, so we thought what better way to kick off the tour than by going back to Canada and the USA where fans gave us such a fantastic reception during our last tour in 2008! We were astounded to see so many thousands of fans packing out the venues, so this time round we will be playing a few more cities we haven’t visited for some time, like Dallas, Saskatoon, Detroit, Denver and Pittsburgh, though logistically we couldn’t get to a few places we really like to play, which is a shame. It’s also great news that our friends DREAM THEATER are able to join us as special guests.”
Dickinson goes on regarding the stage show, set list and ticket scalpers,
“We’re still working on the set list for these summer shows, but this time it will cover the whole history of the band, and I can hint that we will be playing a taster from the new album. We already have the designs for the new Final Frontier stage show which we are building to bring out with us, so this summer tour will be a bit of a preview for the fans. It’s certainly looking very spectacular at this stage and with a brand new Eddie and an amazing light show!”
“We are also trying to ensure that our fans get the tickets they want close to the stage without paying over the odds to ticket scalpers. This is something our manager Rod is working hard on so we hope to see many more familiar faces down the front having a great time. We will see you all soon”
Continues manager Rod Smallwood: “Like all bands, Maiden get fed up with the way fans sometimes pay more than the ticket price to get good positions at our shows. So we are trying, with the assistance of Live Nation and wherever possible subject to venue facilities, to arrange paperless ticketing at least for the front sections to try to eliminate as much of the ticket scalping as we can. Basically, with paperless ticketing, only those who actually pay for the ticket will get into the show so they are useless to scalpers. Furthermore, we are once again arranging ticket pre-sales for our fan club members so they can be quick off the mark for great tickets and will also continue to run the first to the barrier in appropriate venues for fan club members so they can enter a contest to be at the barrier prior to the show. We hope that these measures will help our fans as much as possible.
For our fan club members the tour will also see the return of IMTV on our website www.ironmaiden.com, which has regular footage for the live shows, touring, band interviews, insights into our crew and what they do and much much more, along with the diaries, exclusive photographs and anything else that helps our fans get a real insight into the dynamics of a big tour”

Dream Theater
Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy comments, “Touring with Iron Maiden in North America is a bit of a dream come true for us! After 25 years together, at this stage in our career there’s honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for…and Maiden is one of them! It is an absolute honor. Through the years, we’ve done many one-off shows with Maiden and they’ve almost all been overseas..so it is very exciting to finally be doing a full tour with them…and on our side of the pond no less!!! The tour visits regions in the US - like Texas and the South-West – that we haven’t played in many years, as well as some Canadian cities that have rarely if ever had the chance to see Dream Theater so it’s very exciting for us to get to play for our fans in these places. This is gonna be an amazing show that the fans won’t wanna miss….Up The Fucking Irons!!”

Can I just say something real quick? I dont give a SHIT about “The Trooper”. “Ghost of the Navigator” DESTROYS the fucking trooper, and I am gonna have a great time tonight. Thank you.
I’m happy with everything and have my tickets i just wish they would throw the trooper and run to the hills in there.. thats stupid not to play it.. i love their new stuff too so don’t get me wrong. i know a lot of people like and want to see their newer stuff but i’m 15 so i didn’t get to see them in every tour.. but oh well.. hopefully they will fix up the set list a bit and throw in those two songs.. if not maybe they next tour they do they’ll play their classics.
Just saw them 2-days ago in Auburn WA. They were better than when I saw them for the 7th son of a 7th son tour 22 years ago. I am very happy with the new songs and am glad I didnt get a rehash of Live after Death (which I have listened to a million times). They still got it! UP THE IRONS!!!!!!
cant beleive this debate is going on over here too- if you’re old enough to remember life before the internet- just go see MAIDEN- the same way you saw them when you were young- you did’nt know what songs they were gonna play- you went because it was MAIDEN- and MAIDEN kicks ass! they kick ass because they refuse to give in to anything that tries to make them into something they’re not- in my opinion thats kind of the defenition of ROCK! these guys still got that feeling and they’re still ROCKIN!- i saw them at san man last saturday and i’m telling you they’ve got a whole new set of younger fans that are rockin just as hard to the new stuff as i rock to the old- i took my 15 year old (first concert)- she’s still wearing her shirt, hasn’t taken it off- thats what rock is about- thats what MAIDEN is about.
and by the way el dorado is a kick ass song!
I agree about the “fans” who have been around long enough (10 years is plenty) to know or at least have no excuse not to know of Iron Maiden’s catalog.
Fans like myself, have rarely missed a tour. Given the choice if it were entirely up to me, I am more happy to see all the kids going for the first time. That’s a beautiful thing, because kids are turning to bands like Maiden, finding what is coming out too suck-ass to take. So a few basics are cool.
I saw the show in Concord, and was overjoyed about the omission of “Run to the Hills”. THANK YOU!!!
Personally, I’m over “Number of the Beast”, “Hallowed be thy name”, “Wrathchild”, “Running Free”, but they have to play some stuff for the new members of the family, as Bruce said.
I am delighted with the concentration of contemporary material. I didn’t hear too much about anyone being unhappy about the show, until the threads.
Last year, they played the Powerslave/Somewhere in Time/7th son tour. Year before that, first 4 albums tour.
JCGDF!!! WHAT DO YOU WANT????
Whining is just annoying!! Remember, they have to try to please everyone, they cant. But IMHO, they do better than any other band at having contemporary material worth hearing. I caught all those other shows.
THATS WHAT MAKES MAIDEN= IRON FKN MAIDEN!!
Consistent greatness.
Ok Whiners??… now kindly STFU
Ed,
Thanks for the comment. I was at the San Manuel Amphitheater this past Saturday night and the show ROCKED! I thought it was cool that the boys didn’t play the same songs they always have. It was good to see them stretch out and play newer material.
With such a huge catalog of awesome songs I thought they could have done a longer set to include some more of the songs people want to hear (The Trooper, Run To The Hills, Number Of The Beast, etc.) Maybe have an intermission like RUSH does to take a breather, these guys aren’t getting any younger. Anyway, still an excellent show.
Good show in Concord,Ca but what the Fuck nothing from Piece of Mind or Powerslave Album… lame.
Some of you people are pathetic. IM have 15 albums and you want them to play the same 8 songs so you can make believe you are 15 again sitting in you room staring at the album cover. The setlist (other than Wildest Dreams) is brilliant and I am bummed they took out Brighter than 1000 Suns. IM’s newer material is complex, deep and musically challenging. IF you can;t understand why Paschendale is such a brilliant song, you are in a coma.
Also, comments about how IM should play the same old crap shows that most of those making the comments have never done a thing artistically in their lives. Imagine you bust your ass making great albums and then all of your fans just want “The Trooper?” You ever think about that? To be honest, I would prefer an ALL new material show, without Iron Maiden or Running Free or NOTB. There is such good new stuff (or even older stuff that was not frequently played (22 Avacia Ave, Prisoner, I would go on)that there is really NO need to be stuck on the 80’s like most of IM;s USA fans. It’s sad when ‘fans’ of a band are only fans until the band starts playing the new stuff. If you were a true fan, you would learn to grow with the band and try to understand that they grow as you have apparently not. For all of you who fall into that category, don;t even think of buying tickets for the Final Frontier tour next year, it ain;t gonna be anything you will want to see. But, that’s fine with me, i’ll be able to get better tickets because you wont be there. Up the Irons.
If you are a fan of classic Maiden, sell your tickets. Saw them in Denver, mostly new stuff, boring and took any energy out of crowd playing crap nobody knew. AC/DC seems to be the ONLY classic band that knows what their fans want, the old stuff! Seen maiden half a dozen times since ‘85, won’t go again after this display of self gratification. No trooper, no Number of the Beast, no Run to the Hills. Like AC/DC not doing Back in Black. Lame
Only 4 more days until the vancouver show…. im super exited.
saw the denver show last night… the set list was somewhat unexpectedly comprised of some of the newer catalog, yet they still managed to rock in 5 classics… spoiler alert … great show nonetheless! maiden still rocks like nobody’s business! if you will be attending one of the future shows, enjoy yourself!
Lookin forward to scorps and can’t go wrong with moving pictures live in its entirety.
Couldent agree more with dave and bobk. Lookin forward to scorps and can’t go wrong with moving pictures live in its entirety.
If you saw last maiden tour you dident miss nothing.for those who care to know 1 new track played.
I just don’t understand how they don’t play the trooper… Honestly
saw the Houston show tonight. Maiden solid as always, but nothing from Piece of Mind or Powerslave? Not cool.
alexander the great should definitly be played, maiden has become bigger than they were than in the 80s and this song would match their legacy. or rewrite to edward the great.
I actually sang. I played for an atmospheric death metal band called Garden of Shadows.
Hey Chad,
I’m with you, I can’t wait for the show in San Bernadino June 19th. Saturday night under the stars and Iron Maiden is going to ROCK! What instrument did you play in your band?
Man…..I will be at the last show in D.C. on 7/20. I can’t wait!!! This will be my fourth time seeing Maiden and first seeing Dream Theater. I’ve been wanting to catch DT for years. I’ve been listening to metal for over 20 years and have seen plenty of bands. I was even in one of my own for 7 years. Maiden RULZZZZZZ!!! Can’t wait to hear some new songs played live. UP THE IRONS!!! PLEASE PLAY ALEXANDER THE GREAT!!!
Hey Rick,
My two boys will be attending the show with me also. Hard Rock and Heavy Metal music is so awesome, it spans generations and just keeps going. Are you attending any other shows this summer? So far I have tickets for Iron Maiden/Dream Theater, Scorpions, RUSH and Megadeth/Slayer/Testament with I’m sure more to come. Thanks for your visit to Rockchoice.com
