Heaven & Hell Cancels All Summer Concert Dates

Heaven and Hell

The Devil You Know

With numerous summers shows scheduled for Heaven & Hell, it appeared vocalist Ronnie James Dio was ready to get back to what he does best, singing. I consider Ronnie to be one of the greatest Hard Rock and Heavy Metal vocalist EVER! Now it seems things are not working out as planned.

The band just released a statement regarding all their planned appearances this summer in Europe, including its headline set at Bloodstock’s (U.K.) 10th anniversary festival as well as performances at Sonisphere in Switzerland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.

“We have to announce that all forthcoming Heaven & Hell European shows have been canceled as sadly (vocalist) Ronnie (James Dio, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November 2009) isn’t well enough to tour this summer. We hope that everyone understands and want to thank fans and industry colleagues for their continuing support at this time.”

Ronnie James Dio released this statement regarding the canceled shows:

“I would like to voice my great disappointment on the cancellation of the Heaven & Hell summer tour. Wendy, my doctors and I have worked so hard to make it happen for all of you, the ones we care so much about, that this setback could be devastating, but we will not let it be. With your continued love and support, we will carry on and thrive. There will be other tours, more music, more life and much more magic.”

I hope this means Ronnie is still recovering and winning his battle with cancer and that it is just taking longer than anticipated. Get well soon Ronnie, were all hoping to see you performing live again very soon.

Below is a video clip of Ronnie being interviewed at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards on April 8 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles by VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show” co-host Eddie Trunk.

Ronnie is a solid guy who hasn’t lead a party lifestyle. It’s sad when someone who actually takes care of themselves in Rock & Roll gets ill like he has. Good luck, & I wish him all the best!
