The Grammy’s got it right. At the 52 Annual Grammy Awards held Sunday January 30th, 2010 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Ca metal legends Judas Priest (are you listening Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?) were honored with a Grammy for ‘Best Metal Performance’ for the song ‘Dissident Aggressor’ from the 2009 album ‘A Touch of Evil: Live.’

In his acceptance speech (see video below) Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford said, “The fifth time is the charm.” He also said that Judas Priest have been making metal for 35 years and that they still love what they do. He also remembered to thank all the radio stations and press that have supported the band over the years, and he dedicated the award to all heavy metal fans.

The nominees in this year’s “Metal” category were as follows:

Judas Priest – ‘Dissident Aggressor’ from ‘A Touch of Evil: Live’
Lamb Of God – ‘Set to Fail’ from ‘Wrath’
Megadeth – ‘Head Crusher’ from ‘Endgame’
Ministry – ‘Señor Peligro’ from ‘Adios…’
Slayer – ‘Hate Worldwide’ from ‘World Painted Blood’

AC/DC was honored with a Grammy in the “Best Hard Rock Performance” category in the pre-telecast ceremony. AC/DC was nominated for the track “War Machine”, from the band’s 2008 album “Black Ice”

The nominees in this year’s “Hard Rock” category were as follows:

AC/DC – ‘War Machine’ from ‘Black Ice’
Alice In Chains – ‘Check My Brain’ from ‘Black Gives Way to Blue’
Linkin Park – ‘What I’ve Done’ from ‘Road to Revolution: Live at Milton Keyes’
Metallica – ‘The Unforgiven III’ from “Death Magnetic’
Nickelback – ‘Burn it to the Ground’ from “Dark Horse’

Of coarse neither of these categories were televised, they saved that for all the other crap that the Grammy’s think is more important than our Hard Rock and Heavy Metal that we love so much. Check out the Grammy’s house band turning ‘Dissident Aggressor’ into elevator music as Halford and Travis walk to the podium to accept the award, pretty funny.
