‘Dream Evil’ Swedish Metal

I am blown away by all the awesome hard rock and metal music that has been coming out of Europe, bands like Wolf (Sweden) Amoral (Finland) Corroded (Sweden) Gamma Ray (Germany) and another band I just discovered, Dream Evil (Sweden). Check out this video of their song ‘The Book of Heavy Metal’ from their 2004 album of the same name.

The band has released their 5th studio album ‘In The Night‘ January 26th, 2010.

In The Night

Dream Evil is the brain child of  producer Fredrik Nordstrom who wanted to form a heavy metal band. The first part of the puzzle came together when Fredrik met guitarist Gus G from the band Firewind, and now Ozzy Osboune’s new guitarist, and the two hit it off. Next came vocalist Niklas Isfeldt whom Fredrik remembered from a previous recording gig, Niklas brought along his friend and bass player Peter Stalfors. Nordstrom also knew drummer Snowy Shaw, who played drums on the bands first album ‘Dragonslayer‘ (2002) and later joined as the fifth member of the band.

The name of the band is a tribute to one of the greatest hard rock heavy metal singers ever, Ronnie James Dio from his album ‘Dream Evil‘ (1987) as suggested by Fredrik.

The current members of the band don’t take themselves to seriously as evidence by the stage names they choose for themselves, check them out.

Nick Night (Niklas Isfeldt) – Vocals

Ritchie Rainbow (Fredrik Nordstrom) – Lead/Rhythm Guitars

Dannee Demon (Daniel Varghamne) – Lead Guitar

Pete Pain (Peter Stalfors) – Bass Guitar

Pat Power (Patric J. Sten) – Drums

I love the Ritchie Rainbow name Nordstrom choose for himself, an obvious tribute to one of the great hard rock guitarist of all time, Mr. Ritchie Blackmore.

Check out the first new song ‘Immortal‘ from their new album as well as other great songs from the band on their myspace page here.
